Senior Claims Adjuster - Workers Compensation

Job Description:

As a Senior Claims Adjuster specializing in Workers Compensation at BHHC, you will manage complex lost-time claims, particularly those that may lead to significant costs. This role involves thorough investigation, evaluation, and resolution of claims, ensuring compliance with company policies and state regulations. 

Responsibilities:

  • Independently handle all types of workers compensation claims, including complex cases, from inception to resolution.
  • Conduct thorough investigations to determine coverage and compensability, including interviews with insureds, claimants, and witnesses.
  • Establish appropriate case reserves based on specifics of each case, adhering to company guidelines and applicable state requirements.
  • Review and make decisions regarding medical bills, wage claims, and other claim-related items to maintain up-to-date files.
  • Identify subrogation opportunities and coordinate with relevant parties to pursue recovery.
  • Manage files in litigation, including reviewing the quality of outside counsel participation.
  • Negotiate settlements within assigned authority levels.
  • Ensure compliance with procedural guidelines, including maintaining all reports within BHHC standards.
  • Participate in additional projects, including training and special assignments, as needed.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of workers compensation claims adjusting experience.
  • Active Workers Compensation Adjuster license required.
  • Strong technical knowledge of workers compensation rules and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
