We are currently seeking a highly motivated Manager, State & Higher Education to join our Southwest Business team. This role is key to helping Southwest Airlines become the preferred airline for business travel while engaging with State, Local, and Higher Education (SLED) managed travel accounts. The Manager will lead a team, drive sales, and build partnerships with these organizations to broaden awareness of Southwest Airlines' corporate travel programs and services.
As a leader, you will be responsible for mentoring and professionally developing a team of Field Government Account Managers and ensuring the effective management of assigned portfolios. The role involves executing strategic direction, driving sales growth, establishing partnerships, and identifying opportunities for Southwest Airlines in the SLED travel sector.
Responsibilities:
- Sales Leadership: Lead efforts to increase corporate sales through partnerships and awareness-building within the State, Local, and Higher Education (SLED) managed travel accounts.
- Team Development: Mentor and coach the Field Government Account Managers, supporting their professional growth and ensuring successful execution of strategic goals.
- Partnership Development: Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the SLED travel sector, working to promote Southwest Airlines’ corporate travel programs and services.
- Recruitment & Onboarding: Play a key role in hiring, onboarding, and training new team members to create a robust and effective sales organization within the managed travel industry.
- Strategic Growth: Be an integral part of Southwest’s vision to grow and solidify its presence in the corporate business travel sector, helping to shape the future of the airline’s SLED services.

- This position is remote, but occasional travel will be necessary for training, meetings, and other events.
- The role may be performed from most U.S. locations, with some exceptions. Please note that employees in the following states are ineligible for this remote position: Alaska, California, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, Washington, and Wyoming.
