Job Summary

As a Senior Software Engineer at Southwest Airlines, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Customer360 Team. This Salesforce application provides a 360-degree view of our Customers and their journeys with Southwest. Your work will include designing, writing, and testing application code, as well as troubleshooting production issues and providing immediate solutions. You will also mentor other Software Engineers and contribute to the overall technical direction and roadmap of large-scale cloud systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the technical direction and roadmap for large-scale cloud systems.
  • Serve as a technical lead, guiding both internal and external development teams.
  • Define operational feasibility through analyzing requirements, problem definition, solution development, and proposed answers.
  • Collaborate with product managers and customers to define feature requirements.
  • Investigate and implement continuous improvements and new technologies.
  • Evaluate and ensure code quality, structure, and compatibility with browsers, devices, and operating systems.
  • Mentor Software Engineers, offering guidance, coaching, and training opportunities to foster skill development.
  • Stay current with new development tools, programming strategies, and industry best practices.
  • Take part in professional development activities and remain engaged with technical communities.
  • Perform other duties as directed by leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S. (no work sponsorship available).
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent formal education.
  • Advanced expertise in software development methodologies, practices, and technologies, gained through formal education and/or work experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of at least one programming language (Salesforce development experience preferred).
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to articulate ideas and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring successful completion.
  • Strong mentoring and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and guide teams.
  • Experience with Salesforce development, including Service Cloud, Lightning Web Components, Apex, and Salesforce1 mobile apps.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools like GIT, SalesforceDX, Jenkins, and SonarQube.
  • Experience with Salesforce API integrations and JavaScript/JSON is a plus.
  • Experience with Community Cloud is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Java programming is beneficial.
  • Experience with Salesforce Community Cloud and API integration is a plus.
