We are looking for a Technology Supply Chain Management (SCM) Category Manager who will help drive the future of Southwest Airlines by managing a portfolio of technology suppliers, particularly within Air Operations. Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
- No work authorization sponsorship is available now or in the future.
- Previous experience in supplier management, contract negotiation, or related fields is preferred.
- Strong understanding of technology spend in the aviation industry is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
As a Technology SCM Category Manager, you will:
- Advise stakeholders on supplier agreements, programs, and projects, identifying common risks and mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with leadership and guide decision-making processes by encouraging competitive evaluations of new suppliers through the RFP (Request for Proposal) process.
- Develop and implement negotiation strategies to maximize supplier value while minimizing risks.
- Lead contract negotiations and strategic sourcing events, ensuring alignment with Southwest’s business goals.
- Manage supplier communications and maintain strong relationships with key technology suppliers.
- Support ongoing demand planning for assigned technology agreements and renewals, ensuring alignment with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify procurement opportunities through data analysis, industry knowledge, and stakeholder discussions.
- Monitor supplier performance, addressing concerns and making necessary adjustments to maintain successful partnerships.
- Mentor junior team members, helping them grow professionally in the procurement and supplier management space.
- Perform additional duties as directed by leadership.
Work Environment
This is a regional position, meaning you will work in the region you support, which may involve a mix of onsite company facilities and remote-based offices. Your specific location will be determined based on business needs.
